Many people think it’s crazy that I don’t often listen to music or anything while I run. One of the biggest reasons is because I run the streets of Miami during dark hours, and I need to keep my ears open for cars, animals, and people. When I ran with music, I would have one ear with an ear bud and the other open. Also, when I used to run with music, I felt I would subconsciously sync my stride to the beat and mess with my pace. Thirdly, I could never find a pair of headphones that didn’t “ear-itate” me to the point of taking them off completely.

Enter AfterShokz Trekz Air – bone conducting headphones that deliver safety, comfort, and astounding sound. AfterShokz, which include several different models of headphones, sit outside your ear and the sound is conducted through your cheekbone. They are extremely comfortable, light, and aren’t annoying around your ear. The headphones also don’t bounce when running and are sweat resistant.

But, they do. AfterShokz uses PremiumPitch technology that ensures both music and voice audio content is impeccable. And, because the AfterShokz sit outside your ear, you can also hear any possible dangers while on your run. I’m able to hear cars coming behind me, or other runners and bikers on the route – adding an extra layer of safety to the run.

I’ve also been using the Trekz Air to listen to podcasts on our evening kids bike ride and walk with the dogs. I can listen to content, while being able to hear cars, stray animals, or the kids telling a semi-funny joke.

I generally listen to music or sports radio at my desk, as I write and create content for a Fortune 500 company. AfterShokz let me hear if someone comes up behind me to ask a question. And, the sound from the AfterShokz doesn’t leak out, so my neighbors are not bothered by what I’m listening too.

The AfterShokz Trekz Air come with a sleek carrying case that includes a USB charger so taking them with you is simple. They are quick to charge, and each charge lasts a long time. I’ve never timed how long the charge lasts, but I get a good few days of listening per charge. And, if I know I’m going to use them for a long run, I’ll just put them on the charger as I get ready for the run.

If you’re in the market for running headphones – or any type of headphones for that matter – I highly recommend AfterShokz. You can’t beat the quality, versatility, and safety AfterShokz provide. The company is having a rare sale until Father’s Day (June 16) which includes $30 off Trekz Air; $20 off Trekz Titanium (my wife has a pair and loves these), and $10 off Sportz Titanium (wired). No code is needed, the discount is taken off on the website.

  1. I totally agree with everything you’ve said! I use these for work calls (I work from home), during my lunch break when I’m folding a quick load of laundry, or while out on bike rides with my daughter. They are SO comfortable that I often forget I’m wearing them!
