Runners are always focused on footwear. But most times it is the shoes they are running their miles in. Sure, much of the time of it is lacing up the shoes and putting in the miles. But, just because you put in the miles, doesn’t mean you are done with training. You have to take care of your body as well.

If you’ve been following the blog, you know that I’m building up my recovery arsenal. I’ve been focusing on tools that help relieve the stress I put on muscles and speed the time it takes for them to be ready for the next run. I was excited to get a chance to try out OOFOS sandals after hearing so much about them from fellow BibRave Pros and on the BibRave Podcast.

img_1280Let me tell you, I wasn’t disappointed when I tried them on for the first time. I will admit it took some getting used to them being thong sandals since I’ve always worn slides, but that quickly subsided. Out of the box, they felt great. You can definitely feel the cushion that is provided by the OOfoam. It is actually what makes OOFOS unique.

OOFOS was created by a foam chemist whose intent was to create shoe foam that focused on recovery. Enter OOfoam, which has been scientifically proven to help you recover faster and feel better. This is because OOfoam technology absorbs 37% more impact than other footwear foams. It also is designed to cradle your arches and move with your feet. This means you use less ankle energy when you walk. As a result, you reduce stress on your body and recover faster.

To test all the science, I rotated OOFOS with my other sports sandal during the past couple weeks. What I could feel was a remarkable difference in the OOFOS conforming to my foot and taking less pressure off my feet. When wearing my other sandals, it felt almost as if I was standing and walking on the floor with nothing in between my feet.

You can also OOFOS before a workout to warm up your feet, ankles, and legs through reflexology.
