Road iD: No Price for Safety or Customer Service

Being an extremely superstitious person, I’ve always felt if I made a purchase for my safety then it would trigger something bad to happen. It sounds dumb, but apparently I’m not alone in this. One of the pieces is a Road iD. I’ve seen the brand. I’ve interacted with the brand. I’ve talked about getting one for years. Friends told me to get one, but still I never did.

I’ve had run-ins with cars in the past – two misses that were too close for comfort – and had a pretty big fall. But it wasn’t until a couple months ago when a car ran a stop sign, hit me, and tried to take off (there was a cop who saw the whole thing) that I said it was time. I wasn’t injured badly thank goodness.

Just as fate would have it, being a BibRave Pro gave me the opportunity to get a Road iD about two weeks after the incident. Yes, I’m superstitious, but this was a neon sign right in front of my face. I had a choice between the Wrist ID and Sidekick. I chose the latter that easily affixed to my Garmin Forerunner. Ordering was easy, simply put in your details, who your contacts are, and there is even a line for a motto.

I can speak about the product all day and how it keeps me safe on the street as it is one at all times. But there is so much more to Road iD than its products – which are available for people and pets. What truly makes Road iD a great company is its people and communication.

img_2357From the moment I hit submit, I received several communications from the team. First was a confirmation, but it wasn’t your standard “We Got Your Order.” It was an engaging message that was personalized and spoke directly at me, my location, etc. Then there was an email the next day letting me know the engraving was complete. That email contained a video that introduced me to the people making the product and fulfilling the order. It makes you feel like you’re part of the brand.

Every point in the shipping process was met with a communication. And, then when the package arrived there was a handwritten note from an employee introducing themselves, a card welcoming me to the family, and a message on every side of the box to inspire me on my journey.

In a time when companies are forgetting to take the time to speak to its customers, it is refreshing to encounter a brand that truly cares about its family – employees and customers alike. The engagement through social media is just as impressive. It is something seen less and less, but makes the biggest difference for consumers.

Over the last three months, I’ve learned two things: You can’t put a price on safety, nor on customer service. Road iD has taught me both. They are a brand that stands behind its family and its products. And, because of this so do I.
